When I travel abroad, I normally don't have too much time to visit museums, so I normally do my list in case I never go back to that city/country again. I will check what people are saying and finally decide which are the 2 unmissable museums.
For me, this museum is the unmissable from Chile. Trust me, pick-up a guide and walk around this beautiful building, and be amazed.
Besides the obvious prestige that this Museum has earned in time, there is the fact that it is a Museum dedicated full time to Precolumbian Art. Some would say that this is just for very special interests visitors. The crazy thing is that it's for kids, artists, teenagers and seniors. And it's by far the best way to understand Andean history at a glance.
This museum can make you understand the timeline of mummies in Egipt and how Chinchorro are so special and older. You will also start to look at Andean hats in a totally different way.
Anyway... I just wanted to remind you...If you have the chance to make a museum in Chile, I would definitively reccomend a guided visit into this jewel. Good trip.
